Three Ways to Combat Psoriasis-Induced Loneliness

In addition to self-conscious and itchy, psoriasis can make us feel isolated or even excluded. These can be difficult emotions to handle. Even the act of worrying about your psoriasis itself can make it harder to treat. What an unfair, vicious cycle! One of the hardest parts of having a chronic condition can be the loneliness that arises when it feels like no one understands. I’ve been there, and these tips have helped me feel less lonely. Don’t avoid social interaction, especially when you don’t feel like it. It seems simple enough, but it can be hard for me to remember when I’m uncomfortable—I won’t stop feeling lonely if I keep sitting in a room by myself.
